Grad Student Senator Needed
Get more involved with the WLU community. Become the WLUGSA Graduate Student Senator on the WLU Senate! This exciting position puts you right in the action at the university level - making decisions that will affect the university in the years to come!
The term for the student senator is January 31st, 2008 - June 30, 2009.SENATE
The operation of the University is governed by a bicameral system: the Senate and the Board of Governors, both bodies being administered by the University Secretariat. The powers of the Senate are determined in Section 19 of the Wilfrid Laurier University Act of 1973 as amended in 2001
The Senate meets approximately 8 times per year
The 12 Senate Standing Committees have a wide variety of tasks, that include the following: evaluating requests for new programs and the modification of current programs; overseeing the program review process; evaluating Senate by-laws and regulations; considering the University’s fiscal responsibility for maintaining academic programs; reviewing policies and priorities in regards to information technologies, instructional development, research and student life; reviewing and making recommendations on applications for promotion and tenure; considering student appeals; and considering nominations for honorary degree recipients.
Please complete the nomination form and return to the WLUGSA. Nominations will close on Monday January 28th at 5pm and the candidates will present themselves to the WLUGSA BOD on Wednesday January 30th, 2008. The WLUGSA BOD will then elect a new senator from the candidates presented.
