WLUGSA Referendum Questions Announced

Date posted: Feb 29/08       Posted by: Ellen Menage

The GSA Board of Directors voted at its meeting on February 28 to put the following questions to its member in a referendum, to be held March 31, 2008:

1) Do you approve of the WLUGSA membership becoming members of Wilfrid Laurier University Student Publications (WLUSP) for $13.16 per year (to be offset by a reduction in GSA fees)?
2) Do you approve of the changes to internal structure and representation?
3) Do you approve of the WLUGSA membership becoming part of the Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union (WLUSU) membership?

All members of the GSA (i.e. all full-time graduate students) are eligible to vote.

More details on these questions will be provided by an informational pamphlet, a special referendum issue of the Gradvocate newsletter and public events. Additional information, including polling times and locations for advance and regular voting, will be made available shortly through email and our website (http://www.wlugsa.ca).

Students will have the opportunity to organize “Yes” and “No” campaigns for each question; if you are interested in joining a campaign, please contact the Chief Returning Officer (CRO: contact details below). Official campaigning will begin Tuesday, March 18; please report any signs of campaigning before that date (e.g. posters, public announcements) to the CRO.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the referendum, or are interested in volunteering on referendum day, please contact the CRO, Brian Hoessler, by email at wlugsa.cro@gmail.com, or by phone through the GSA office (519-884-0710 x 3501).

Thank-you
