2008-2009 Elections Announced
WLUGSA Nomination Information – Spring 2008
The call for nomination period is from April 1st, 2008 until April 22nd, 2008. Any nominee wanting to participate in official campaign events and publicity must have their nomination package into the GSA office by noon on April 8th, 2008.
There will be a casual Meet and Greet for nominees at the Grad Pub the evening of April 17th. Nominees will be able to use the WLUGSA website to launch their campaigns. Information that a nominee wants posted will need to be handed into Ellen Menage (emenage@wlu.ca) by noon on April 11th, 2008.
The Annual General Meeting of the WLUGSA will be on Tuesday April 22nd. The nominees will be presented and radified at that meeting.
A nomination form is available for the following positions. The form needs to be filled out and ten graduate students need to sign before the nomination can be submitted.
Executive Positions available:
1. President – Advocate, plan, and execute the main projects and goals
2. Chair - Call and facilitate board meetings
3. Treasurer - Develop budget and financial reports
4. Secretary/Director of Policy - Be responsible for policy, minutes, and representation
5. Events Coordinator - Coordinate events for all graduate students
All executive positions receive an honorarium.
Every year the WLUGSA is made up of committed students just like you, who develop friendships, skills and contacts within and outside of the Association. Our work benefits the Laurier graduate student community, but it also directly benefits us... what a great experience!
The GSA experience will help you in your academic or professional career, while offering you a chance to speak up about issues important to you and your department. You will also be a part of fostering a sense of community amongst graduate students. Please take the time to look through the different ways you can become involved.
